Building Description
MADACC opened on August 1, 1999, and provides animal care and control services for the nineteen municipalities of Milwaukee County. MADACC is first and foremost a public safety organization. We currently rescue and assure safe, temporary shelter, and basic veterinary and humane care for over 13,000 stray, unwanted, abandoned, mistreated, and injured animals each year—more than any other animal control organization in Wisconsin.
Visitor Experience
Visitors will enjoy a guided tour led by one of our knowledgeable volunteers. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at our kennels, see some of our furry residents, and learn how we care for animals in need every day. It’s a chance to see the shelter in action and discover how you can be part of our lifesaving work.

💙🐾 147 Animals Saved Thanks to Our Rescue Partners! 🐾💙
Between Monday the 15th and today, Monday the 22nd, our incredible rescue partners pulled 147 animals from our shelter! In a week when we were at capacity and more animals kept arriving, these amazing groups stepped up big time to give dogs and cats and a few other furry friends a second chance. Every animal pulled is a life saved!
We couldn’t be more grateful — thank you for showing up for the animals and for us. 💙
